application wait list

Before submitting an application, please check below to ensure the Mental Health and Justice Supportive Housing Program is accepting applications.

Each quadrant has a maximum of 10 spaces on the wait list, and once the maximum is reached, the wait list will be closed. When a position on a wait list becomes available, the list will be reopened and the change will be reflected here.

Please note that being on the wait list does not guarantee program acceptance.

For more information on the wait list process see the link on the left.

Please check back often!

THE WAIT LIST PROCESS

TThe Mental Health and Justice Supportive Housing Program has successfully housed many people and we have now reached the stage where we do not have any vacancies. However, the Unit Registry will be maintaining an application wait list for applicants awaiting an intake assessment. Please note that being on the wait list does not guarantee program acceptance.

The wait list will be divided into the four quadrants served by the initiative: Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, and Downtown. Applicants will need to identify which quadrant they would like to apply for and only one selection will be available per applicant.

The Unit registry will maintain a list of 10 applications per quadrant. Once a quadrant has reached its’ maximum, the wait list for that quadrant will be closed. As new positions on the wait list become available it will be reopened.

The status of the wait lists (open or closed) will be posted on the website on Tuesday and Thursday by 10:00 a m (www.mentalhealthandjustice.org). Referral sources should still check the website prior to submitting applications.

Applications will be forwarded to the housing providers when a unit is becoming available. Intakes/assessments will be conducted at that time.

Applicants going on the wait list need to have current involvement in the criminal justice system at the time of the application, as well as meeting our other criteria. At the time of intake they will still need to meet our other criteria, including being “homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness”.

Referrers or Applicants will be required to communicate changes (i.e. Applicant contact information, housing status changes, etc) to the Unit Registry. When the application is forwarded to a housing provider, the Unit Registry will call to communicate this to the referrer who will then be responsible to alert the applicant. Referral sources will then be given 3 days to contact the Unit Registry. After the 3rd day the application will be withdrawn and the next person on the list will be contacted.

Applicants who decline an offer based on issues that would seriously affect their mental health will be put back on the wait list for the next available unit. Applicants who decline a unit offer for other reasons (i.e. location, etc) will be put back on the list for the next available unit; if they decline the second offer the file will be closed but they can re-apply to the initiative after 6 months if they still meet the criteria.

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any further information please call the Mental Health and Justice Supportive Housing Unit Registry at (416) 757 MHJI (6454).

Thank you.
